Pat Gladding

I came into nursing at the age of eighteen in 1975,Working in the same authority in Hampshire for 27 years, and have worked in Grimsby for the last 3 years. Since taking up my post in Grimsby, I have been involved with the most exciting and challenging work of my career.

The introduction of PROACT SCIPr UK into a new organisation, would have been challenge enough but to include Service Users directly in the way the programme was to be delivered and also include service users in the actual course itself without this appearing to be tokenistic, I thought would put this task beyond my capabilities, however with the support and hard work of colleagues and our Independent Service User group, this has been achieved, and will continue to grow with more and more people realising at last that service users have a voice and this voice has to be heard. The success of service users and staff working in partnership is testament to the way forward.
